How to Back Up an Android Phone on the Google Cloud

The Google “Cloud” refers to various places where Google can store your files, settings, and other data outside of your phone. You can back up onto the cloud with built-in controls.

Follow the steps below to let automatic backup of your data when you use your Android smartphone:

1. Press the “Home” button on your phone to get to the Home screen. Hit the “menu” button next and select “System Settings.”

2. Select the “Privacy” option, then “Backup & reset” option in the Settings screen.

3. Make sure the “Back up my data” and “Automatic restore” boxes are checked. Click “Backup my account” to ensure extra redundancy for backing up your data on the cloud.

4. Select an existing Google account for the auto backup purpose.

You can also use other backup app’s available from the Google Play store, such as G Cloud Backup, Go Backup and Restore, or Super Backup etc.

  • Select the data files that you want to back up, and drag them to an area on your computer, such as your desktop. The selected files will copy over to your computer.
